<title>Full Throttle News</title>
<link>http://www.hogknookers.com/modules.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=61</link>
<description>The weekend is fast approaching and while I promised God years ago, after drought killed newly sodded yards, that I would not complain about the rain it is getting more difficult for me to comply with that promise. Keep in mind that the bike night events and most of the weekend events are rain or shine. You can bring the cage if you must and no one will give you a hard time. Can't promise a picture of you getting out of the car won't make the magazine though. Just kidding, wouldn't do that to you.

First, I've got to apologize to our Bonz Bike Night folks for us not making it last night. Our ABATE 4W meeting ran very long and was a hotly debated event. All in all, I'm glad to see some fire and passion in the group and hope like hell across the State that we can see other districts get fired up. There are issues that matter to every one of you that rides a motorcycle. Sport bike, cruiser, trike, Goldwing, HOG, etc... It doesn't matter what you ride, you are and will be affected as government regulations continue to creep into our every day lives and our freedoms. Check out the California proposed emission testing article at the very bottom of this email. You can be sure that this will spread across America. ABATE is our lobbying organization for the State of GA and membership numbers are crucial for success.

While on the topic... If you have a desire to be involved at the District or State level of ABATE. You must submit your application 60 days prior to the elections in September. JB Walker has thrown his hat into arena for the State Director job and others have expressed interests. We are offering equal space for any candidate to post his platform in our upcoming issues. First contact ABATE, 435 W 3rd St, Jackson, GA 30233, (678) 752-0558, www.abatega.org, and submit your application, then send us up to 300 words about how you can make a difference for motorcyclists across GA.
ALABAMA readers- you are going to have the same chance as the new ABATE of AL gets up and running.

BACK TO THE FUN STUFF-
Tonight Vivian and I along with SteelHorse Law will be hitting the Gwinnett Hooters as the Gypsy Tour continues. It appears the weather may actually hold for tonights event so come on out and join us and FT Calendar Girl Gina Thompson and March of Dimes Bikers for Babies for fun and raffles. We are really enjoying seeing and meeting people at these events as we make our way all over GA. I hope we can expand this into AL, TN and the Panhandle so we can get out to meet as many of you as possible.
A special version of the Gyspsy Tour is on Friday night at the Newnan Hooters location. We're starting early, 6pm. Come out for a shot to win VIP tix for the swimsuit competition that starts at 8pm. King Kustoms and H-D Clayton Co will be on hand to help us throw one heck of a party. More on Macon &amp; Warner Robbins and Savannah Gypsy tour dates next week!

California Motorcycle Smog Test Bill Passes Out Of Committee We Need Your Help! Write Fax or Call your State Senator NOW!!
5/6/2009
California SB 435

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well it looks like the tree huggin state of California is getting motorcycles included in their Emission testing program
Senate Bill 435 went through on the senate appropriations committee
13 ayes and 0 nays This will affect motorcycles from the year 2000 and up. Hope everone there held on to their stock crap cause their gonna need it.

sb_435_bill_20090413_amended_sen_v98.pdf

BALLOT
MEASURE: SB 435
AUTHOR: Pavley
TOPIC: Smog check program: motorcycles.
DATE: 04/27/2009
LOCATION: SEN. APPR.
MOTION: Placed on Appropriations Suspense file.
(AYES 13. NOES 0.) (PASS)

HELP GUYS! –History has proven: As Goes California, So Goes the rest of America –
ACT NOW or NO MORE AFTER MARKET CARBURETORS, EXHAUST SYSTEMS, RECALIBRATE D FUEL INJECTION, CUSTOM BIKES AND ENGINE PARTS, CHARCOAL CANISTER REMOVAL, Harley Screamin’ Eagle Parts, Ducati Performance Parts , etc……
Sacramento, CA, -(Motor Sports Newswire)- SB 435 has passed out of the California Senate Transportation &amp; Housing Committee and is expected to be on the California Senate Floor before the end of April. This measure calls for smog checks, beginning in 2012 for motorcycles 2000 model year and later for owners to be able to re-register them. The California Motorcycle Dealers Assn. has concluded that there is not enough benefit and that there is the potential for discouraging potential owners. The author of the bill claims (?) that including motorcycle in the smog check program will eliminate 5.2 tons of smog daily. That is a tiny amount compared with the 1,406 tons of smog produced every day from all mobile sources. This is not something any motorcyclist can ignore. Your sport will be seriously affected by this bill.

Motorcycles do not contribute enough pollution to warrant being included in a smog check program
Motorcycle, because of their low mileage usage and a much higher gas mileage than cars or trucks, represent less than 3%* of the total for all mobile source emissions.
The cost to implement and conduct a motorcycle smog check program will cost California more than the value of the emissions it’s estimated to save.
(*Note: We don’t know where in the hell they got this big number of 3% – possibly based on the number of car versus motorcycle registrations in California? But as you know almost no one rides their motorcycle to work during the week – everyone drives a car.
This week I drove my car down the I-405 in greater Los Angeles from my home in the San Fernando Valley to Long Beach and back, a 2.5 hour drive, some 90 miles and back in heavy traffic. During the trip I encountered probably 250,000 automobiles or more in both directions on the freeway, and only 6 motorcyclists! In rural areas it’s probably even less:.
That percentage equates to just 0.00002% of bikes driven in greater Los Angeles during the weekday compared to cars!!!
Not the 3% as the legislators claim. As a motorcycle enthusiast I own 6 registered motorcycles, but like most of us I generally only ride one of them for recreation, usually on Sundays – that’s just 4 times a month, and usually under 50 miles per ride. – Editor)

A smog check program for motorcycles will discourage a new motorcycle purchase and encourage infrequent usage owners to stop using them.
Motorcycle smog checks were eliminated in one Arizona county when the program did not reduce emissions enough. *If motorcycles have to be returned to stock condition, finding original parts for older bikes will be impossible because historically, not enough spare parts were made.
We need to do two things IMMEDIATELY:
1). Contact the CA State Department of Transportation Senators who wrote this Bill:
Sen. Allen Lowenthal (Chair) , Fax 916 327 9113 / Ph (916) 651-4027
Sen Robert Huff (Vice Chair) , fax 916 324 0922 / Ph (916) 651-4027
Sen. Fran Pauley, Fax (916) 324-4823 / Ph (916) 651-4023

Another dear friend from the Blue Knights, Barbara Chrisitian lost her mother on the 10th. Many of you know Barbara and her husband Ed from the Police Memorial Ride and the incredible volunteer work they perform. Her mother was 88 and had been ill for a while. Ed's email said, &quot; We are all thankful that the day she chose was Good Friday.&quot; Barbara, we are thinking of you and your family.

It's been a tough couple of week across the Southlands with storms wrecking homes and killing several people. The latest round really hit our Murfreesboro, TN friends hard. This incredible photo (photographer unknown) shows Bumpus H-D barely escaping the wrath of the storm. We will be announcing plans soon to help the victims. This scene was repeated in AL, GA, FL, more TN areas and several other States. It's still early in the tornado season so please pay attention to the warnings and protect yourselves.

The riding season is kicking into high gear with great bike night activities really getting going strong. We have a slate full of great locations where you can gather with your friends and hang out with the Full Throttle staff. Check this link for a location near you: BIke Nights
Thursday nights in Buford, GA are shaping up with incredible bike night parties at Triple Play with our own Ric &quot;Pasty&quot; Alias.
In Cartersville, GA hang out with Cajun Karen at Toms' Place, where it's always 5 o'clock and there is always a great Bike Night party.
In GA we also have the Full Throttle Hooters Gypsy Tour moving into its second week. Tonight, Tues April 14, we are at the Hooters of Hiram location with Ms Full Throttle Victoria Parrish and our sponsors Harley-Davidson of Atlanta and Lawbike.com. Walter our canine columnists will be pawing autographs. Several of our charitable ride partners Bikers Battling Breast Cancer and March of Dimes will be on hand.
On Thursday night we'll be at the Hooters of McDonough location with Harley-Davidson of Clayton County, Steelhorse Law and Gary's Hobbie Shop. On Sunday the 19th we have our first Sunday event with H-D Atlanta and Lawbike.com at Hooters in Douglasville..

Hopefully the weekend forecast will hold and we'll be able to get in some riding. There is a lot going on in AL this weekend including Faunsdale and the State HOG Rally. For the Bumpus H-D show you may want to confirm first if they are going to have it following the past weekends tornado.

There is one addition to the weekend schedule:

<description> With the weekend forecast looking a little dreary Killer Creek H-D has postponed the St Patrick's Day Party until March 21st. The good news is the sale will now be three days long: March 14, 15 and 21. At this point we don't have any other postponements to tell you about.

Make your plans now to attend a new motorcycle rally coming to Jackson, GA the first weekend in April (April 3, 4 and 5th). It’s Sweet Lou’s Bucksnort Biker Rally Presented by Steve Murrin &quot; The Original Biker Lawyer&quot;. It will be held just off Hwy 36 in Jackson. It’s right off I-75 just past Buckners Restaurant. It’s also very affordable, just $20 gets you in the gate for the entire weekend. And if you live in the Metro Atlanta Area it's close to home. There’s plenty of primitive camping space available and lots of vendors. There will be live music Friday and Saturday. Friday Papa Bear will start things off and give way to Skeeterz. Saturday Papa Bear will open for Geneva. Stay tuned for further details. There will be motorcycle games, wet t-shirt contest and Full Throttle Magazine will be hosting the Ms. Thunder Beach Regional Contest. Come Join Steve Murrin (“The Original Biker Lawyer”), Full Throttle Magazine and Big Dog Motorcycles Atlanta for the very first Bucksnort Biker Rally.

ON MY SOAPBOX:
Our recent emails have mentioned Legislative bills that have been moving through the House and Senate. I understand that HB-617 (Red Light bill) has died in the Rules Committee after being read favorably by the Motor Vehicles Committee. I have no way to know how many of you called or wrote your Reps but I hope that you did. So far practically all legislation that has been introduced on your behalf is DEAD. Possibly the &quot;Enhanced Penalties&quot; bill still has some life left. No one can do this alone. Legislation gets passed because of numbers and the only way we can prove to the State that we have united numbers is by joining our State's motorcycle rights organization, ABATE of GA.
We banded together last year and got the Tag and Title legislation done. You rallied behind me and Full Throttle, and in turn behind ABATE, but it's simply a matter of I don't have the time and can't focus all of Full Throttle's resources behind each and every bill. That is the job of ABATE. We will support and work as hard as we possibly can, and do as much as is physically possible. But the foundation of this country was built by individuals stepping up, banding together and getting things done. That's all we are asking from you now. That you step up and band together with ABATE so we can get some things done. These bills are a minor challenge when compared to things happening on the National level. Let's start here; we can get together and throw the tea in the harbor on another day and hopefully that day is coming soon.

<title>News form ABATE of New York</title>
<link>http://www.hogknookers.com/modules.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=57</link>
<description>ABATE of New York, Inc., P.O. Box 300, Walker Valley, NY 12588-0300
1-888-344-4400 www.abateny.org
PRESS RELEASE
ABATE of New York Opposes New York City Int. No. 416-A
FROM: Timothy D. Werder, ABATE of New York State President
DATE: January 10, 2009
Following a December 29th meeting with New York City Council Member Alan Gerson (1st District) to
discuss proposed Local Law Int. No. 416-A, which he sponsored, ABATE of New York, Inc. reiterates
its strong opposition to this legislation, however well intended, that will potentially make unavailable
non-stock exhaust systems that conform to current sound level standards, due to cost &amp; availability
issues, and production &amp; equipment-related concerns.
There is the severe potential of wide-ranging negative results of this legislation passing.
If a motorcycle owner is fearful that a stock or stock equivalent exhaust will be unavailable in the future,
then the owner is more likely to remove and store the stock exhaust for future use. A chosen
replacement exhaust may meet legislated sound levels, but not be legal due to stamping requirements.
Also, there are a number of motorcycles for which stock replacement and stock equivalent exhausts are
already not available. Owners of many of those motorcycles must seek out exhaust systems from
custom manufacturers, many of whom are not large enough to be able to afford EPA certification.
Additionally, examples are readily available of current, stock vehicles that do not meet the stamping
requirement sitting on showroom floors and in owner’s garages. These vehicles have not been modified
in any way, meet the current legislated sound levels, and are being legally operated on the highways.
Lastly, ABATE of New York, Inc. vehemently opposes the discriminatory tactic of targeting only
motorcyclists when there are numerous other sound-level violators on the streets.
It is far better to enforce the existing sound level requirements across-the-board, than to pass this
onerous legislation.
ABATE of New York was established in 1974, and incorporated in 1991 as a 501c4 not-for-profit corporation
representing the rights of all New York State motorcyclists.
For further information, contact ABATE of New York, Inc. at the above address, or:

<description> Happy New Year everyone!!! I think most of us are glad to say, &quot;Good riddance 2008,&quot; and are looking at 2009 with hope or maybe at least with guarded optimism.
Regardless, we're going into 2009 excited that the fuel prices are lower so filling the bike now leaves room to grab a burger while out on a ride. There's no better way to escape the world's woes than going for a ride and being around people that share the same idea. In fact one motorcycle company could not have put it any better in an ad campaign last year, &quot;Screw it, let's ride!&quot; I don't care if you ride a Harley as long as your riding, but I really think they got that one right. How about it- Lets' Ride!!!

January is going to be a busy winter month and it gets started this weekend.

- On Saturday we are doing a photo shoot for our February cover at Bikers Dream of Atlanta at NOON. We don't normally invite everyone to a photo shoot but we need your help. We are going to need some extra guys for sure and maybe a few ladies too. Rain or shine bring the car if you have to. It will be a great way to have some fun and get on the cover of our mag. While we're at it we'll do some Man and Lady of the Month shots as well. BETTER YET, mention this email and get 20% off anything in the store (excludes Motorcycles) and check the Parts Clearance table and Apparel Clearance Racks. See Steve for Parts specials. So come hang out with us and some gorgeous models and have some fun. 5960 Atlanta Hwy, Alpharetta, GA.
